From 8 very satisfied Norwegians, thanks Helena. Our daytour to PunkvevnÝ jeskyný (Punkva Caves), the tasty wild pig lunch in Lipuvka and the visit to Cerna Hora Brewery was great. Your personality and your knowledge made our day complete.

Thise is feedback to Martin Hostinsky, one of www.czech4you.com tourguides. Hello Helena (and Martin), I am finally back in the US. We were detained in Europe an additional 8 days longer then expected due to the volcano. Martin was absolutely wonderful! He was knowledgeable, patient and very well versed in English. My Husband and I had a great experience with him and would recommend him to any of our friends who might travel to the Czech Republic! He was punctual and well prepared. He had a great sense of humor and spent extra time with us when ever we needed him to, as well as being very flexible during our tour. He answered all sorts of crazy questions we had about the Czech Republic and always with a smile on his face. When he found out that I was obsessed with pastries, he brought some the following day that his grandmother had made! I can't give you enough compliments about how wonderful this young man is and what a pleasure it was to see the beautiful sights of your country (and Vienna). Sincerely, Connie and David Lipe.

Helena, I can't thank you enough for your kind consideration in driving me around the Austerlitz battlefield. I really couldn't have done the trip and tour more convieniently than to spend an afternoon with you. I really enjoyed the visit as well, you really shared a lot of information with me about Czech culture. I appreciate the extra research you did for me and also how flexible you were in accommodating my schedule and time frame. I hope other history fans are able to use your service and you are able to expand this aspect of your tours. In short, Helena is highly recommended and I also got to make another good friend in Europe. Thanks again!

Hi Helena !! I have been in Brno for 6 months and it's the first time I can write my testimonial in your website. I was really fortunate to find you at the beginning of my new life in this part of the world, because you made easy the things that could be extremely complex without your help. Thanks to you I have a place where to live, an english teacher, contacts for czech classes (even I didn't take them yet !), concerts, shopping, sauna, restaurants, places to visit ... but the most important I have the lucky to have met a very trusful person as you. Please count with my help whenever you need it. Thank you !!

Dear Helen. I have now returned to Canada. Thank you for all of your help and assistance while I was in Brno researching my uncle's life. Your help in arranging accomodations and helping me get around Brno allowed me to focus more of my time on researching my family history. Thanks again and I will be in touch next time I return to the Czech republic. You have a gift for helping people. George Sykora

Hello Helena, This is to thank you for the wonderful 2-day tour of the countryside near Brno for me and my wife. My main objective in touring the area was to visit the place in Hrotovice from which my Grandfather Frank Benes emigrated to America in 1879. Without your help and your abilityto bridge the language barrier, we never could have found it. Your language skills made our visit to that place truly memorable. We also enjoyed our visit to Telc on the first day of the tour, especially the view from the tower. On the second day we especially enjoyed the exhibit of Alphonse Mucha's Slav Epic at Moravsky Krumlov and the walk around the historic center of Znojmo. A visit to the the remains of the Cold War era barbed wire fence at Cizov that kept Czechs from escaping to freedom was a real eye-opener. Your obvious love of the country, your thorough knowledge of the area's history and geography and your commentary, not to mention your choice of restaurants, all made for a great experience. I would certainly recommend you to anyone visiting Brno or its surroundings. Best regards. Will Kriz

I wanted to write to thank you for everything you did to help in our recent relocation to Brno! My husband and I arrived with not much information or help from outside sources. Luckily we found Helena, and her wonderfully informative website! Not only did she help us rent the perfect flat, she is always there to answer cultural questions, or even something as simple as where to buy milk! And, she's a terrific tour guide! Helena was our first friend upon arrival, and an incredible help to us while we adjusted to life in Brno! Thanks so much!!

Just writing to inquire if that Austrian sauna is coed - if so, then I would be interested! :-) The water slide sounds like fun too! Must compliment you on this site and on your initiative! It provides a lot of good information and I hope that with time, it will grow in popularity and $$$$ returns!<br> Paul

Helena, thank you so much for organising both short term and long term accommodation for me in Brno and for helping me overcome the language barrier between me and the landlord. I never could have done it all by myself!! Without you my stay in the Czech Republic never would have been possible. Thank you for all your help and for showing me around the Moravian Karst region. I would certainly recommend you to anyone relocating to Brno or even just spending a short time here. Many many thanks!!! Lucas

My brother John and I visited the Czech Republic in early August 2006. We had hoped to visit the Village BORSICE where our father was born. We met Helena in Brno and she drove us to the Village. She had also called ahead to the Mayor s office and the secretary there showed us the books where our father s birth was recorded and even made us copies. Helena then accompanied us to the home of an elderly lady whose late husband knew our father s family. Helena translated as we visited with this wonderful family. She then accompanied us to the home where our father was born and the nice lady who lived there was kind enough to let us see the inside of the house. Helena was invaluable in this as my brother and I speak no Czech at all. She also gave us a tour of Brno and the surrounding countryside. She arranged accommodations at some very nice guest houses for some of our stay in the Czech Republic. Her English is fantastic and she is very knowledgeable about the country. Our trip was so special thanks to her. Thank you Helena!! We would highly recommend her to anyone who needs a guide and/or interpreter in the Czech Republic.JoAnne Gregorash

Hallo Helena, Thanks for the great tour two weeks ago. Apart from the historical sites of Brno and its variety of museums, not to mention its wonderful beer (perhaps the tastiest I have ever known), the trip to Znojmo was very nice, classic picturesque little town nestled in the hills and along the river valley. I particularly enjoyed the two storey medieval church overlooking the valley and was also surprised that Russian orthodox churches existed in the far western part of the country. Following Znojmo was the trip to Eizov on the border with Austria. I saw a remnant of the Iron Curtain for the first time in my life, of huge interest to people like myself who grew up under the shadow and potential threat of the Cold War. The village of Eizov was very charming, perhaps even more so during the quiet months of the year with so few people there. The visit to Hardegg in Austria capped the day. International borders have always fascinated me, particularly those that separate two very different cultures, and which, moreover, had been separated for so long by the Iron Curtain. Hardegg is almost mysterious, even a little sinister, a small town nestled in a steep sided valley, just across the river from Czech Republic, dominated by that magnificent castle (even more spectacular, when floodlit at night). My fetish with international borders made the walk across the river back into CR and then returning to Austria seem very adventurous and daring, even more so when the signs were saying that the border was closed! All in all, a very pleasant day, and only made possible through your organisation and local knowledge. There is so much to explore in the area and so much that is still largely undiscovered by tourists from Western Europe. Having a local resident who is kind, patient and sympathetic to show them around provides immeasurable value added. Best Regards, Peter

Hi Helena, You recently arranged accommodation for myself and a friend in the student dorms at Hotel Druzba. I just wanted to say a huge thank you! Your directions were excellent and the room was lovely - much more than we had hoped for. We were also welcomed by a very helpful lady on reception. So thank you very much for your excellent service! We enjoyed our stay in Brno very much. Regards, Morag

Thank you so much for all your help with accommodation in Brno. My friends and I had the most wonderful time with Mr and Mrs Cerna (and their lovely dog, Demira) and we will definitely be reccommending their guest house to our friends as a great place to stay in Brno. We all loved Brno so so much . It is a very different place from Prague - and we all found it hard to leave it yesterday. We found Moravian people to be so warm and friendly and the city was very beautiful. We will definitely be holidaying there again and I know that the other girls are seriously thinking about applying to the music school there. Our trip was absolutely wonderful thanks to your organisation - I really cannot thank you enough. Best wishes for a lovely summer. Sincerely, Sarah McOnie

As foreigners who are currently living in Brno, we cannot say how much this site is needed and appreciated. Over the months Helena has been a great help to us in getting established here in Brno and continues to do so. She really understands what it is like being a foreigner and goes out of her way to help them out. Nathan and Niki Brown
