Domestic Transportation
The country has a remarkably efficient and still-inexpensive bus (autobus) and train (vlak)) network. Both systems are extensive and usually operate right on schedule. The bus system is the most comprehensive, and many people use it in favour of the railways because is often fast and direct. Schedules are quite easy to figure out: DEPARTURE is (ODJEZD, ARRIVALS is (PRIJEZD).

Travelling by bus is generally quicker than train within the Czech Republic. In Brno the main bus station is Zvonarka. See it on the map here. Situated out behind the main train station past Tesco (5/10min walk) just follow the walkway in front of the Brno Main Railways Station. Another Bus terminal is in front of the GRAND HOTEL on Benesova St. See it on the map HERE Always check which bus terminal you should use. Train tickets can be bought at the station, and it is not necessary to do so in advance.

Reading the Bus Timetable A few common bus schedule symbols are:
X (or two crossed hammers) Weekdays only
V Friday only
S Saturday only
N Sunday only
(Cross) Sundays and holidays
